They say composing a good list was one of Thomas Jefferson’s favorite pastimes. And for good reason—for eons people have found pleasure in the art of list making. Some even theorize a number of the earliest cave drawings of simple stick figures were, in actuality, lists made for the cave dwellers’ amusement. Favorite animals, hunting tools, and so forth. So, to that end, I decided to throw my lot in with the rest of humanity and present my personal lists for a few categories (more to come). While the following lists represent my personal favorites, I suspect if there is such thing as an objective, cosmic truth in the arts and taste, it would reflect something very close to the following. Eventually, I want to merge and expand this list to encompass all things encountered over a lifetime (or at least some portion of them), from say, Guernica to Aquafresh.
